HISD Board Trustee Juliet K. Stipeche,
to speak on August 15

Houston Independent School District (HISD) District VIII Board Trustee Juliet K. Stipeche will speak at the Monday, Aug. 15 meeting of the Meyerland Area Democrats Club. Stipeche is in her first term on the HISD board.

A Houston native and the daughter of immigrant parents, Stipeche graduated as valedictorian from the High School for Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice. She then graduated magna cum laude from Rice University and earned her law degree from the University of Texas School of Law. She was working as an attorney and living in Houston’s East End when she ran for the board in November 2010.

Stipeche earned the endorsement of the Houston GLBT Political Caucus for her support of anti-bullying measures, and Houston Federation of Teachers endorsement for her support of her community and its children’s education. She will answer questions at the Meyerland Area Democrats meeting about the state budget cuts and their impact on HISD,
